The House of Representatives has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to mandate the Police and other security agencies to apologise to Nigerians over alleged brutality on Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), on Wednesday imposed N500, 000 fine on Ekiti State Broadcasting Service for violating the ethical standards of broadcasting in the country.


Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has been reported to have escaped plot to assassinate him.

Tension is brewing in Ekiti presently as palpable fear and anger have enveloped the people after governor of the state was allegedly beaten, tear gassed and dragged on the floor by security men who had occupied the gates of the governor’s office since Tuesday when President Mohammadu Buhari came to the state for mega rally of the All Progressives Congress.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has condemned the brazen attack on Ekiti State by the Nigeria Police, saying that the attack was an affront on the inalienable rights of the people of Ekiti State to a peaceful, free, fair and credible election. Governor Ayodele Fayose with cervical collar on his neck, addressing party supporters after he had been revived.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa IBM State has expressed confidence that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will win Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, saying elections are won and lost through ballot papers and not use of force.
