Ekiti: Observers allay fears over insecurity, rigging

A group of election observers, YIAGA AFRICA, has assured the people of Ekiti State that their votes will count in Saturday’s governorship election going by the preparations and assurances of the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) and the security agencies.

For the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), tomorrow’s Ekiti State governorship poll is a litmus test for its preparedness for next year’s general elections. The electoral umpire has promised to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

THERE were protests in different parts of the country yesterday over the purported assault on Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose on Wednesday by the police.

The All Progressives Congress APC has rejected the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP that the heavy deployment of security agents for the Ekiti election was meant to swing electoral victory in favour of the ruling party.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the alleged assault on Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State was a strong indication that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is leading a political war ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.
